About the locality:
The village was mentioned in connection with Bulgarian settlers in 1806–1814 and 1828–1834 (Roman, L. 1984: 140). Eighteen families from Slavovica, Pleven Region settled there in 1828 (Романски, С. 1930: 115). The 1838 registry of the population records the presence of 55 “Serbian” households (Velichi, C. N. 1965: 112). During G. Weigand’s visit in 1898 half of the population was Bulgarian (Weigand, G. 1900: 117). Later he included the village in his atlas as a locality with Bulgarian population (Weigand, G. 1909: Map 67). Approximately thirty Bulgarian families were residing in the village at the time of fieldwork in 1969.
