About the locality:
Bulgarians settle in the village in 1806–1814 (Roman, L. 1984: 143). The 1838 registry of the population records the presence of 73 “Serbian” households (Velichi, C. N. 1965: 114). Bulgarians from Iepureşti actively participate in the 1848 revolution (Velichi, C. N. 1971: 259). In sources dating from the end of the nineteenth century, the residents are described as hard-working “Serbs” who adhere to their traditional garb and customs and do not intermarry with Romanians (Antonescu-Remuşi, P. S. 1890: 118; Lahovari, G. I., C. I. Bratianu, G. Tocilescu 1898-1902 4: 36). G. Weigand visited the village in 1898 and included it later in his atlas as a locality with Bulgarian population (Weigand, G. 1900: 118; Weigand, G. 1909: Map 67). S. Romanski wrote that Iepureşti was “a large village, half of the population of which are Bulgarians stemming from Ruse Region” (Романски, С. 1914: 24). It was established during fieldwork in 1962 that about two thirds of the population was Bulgarian and the dialect was very well preserved. Ganka Mikhaylova\'s recently published fieldnotes of present information about rites of passage, festivals during the calendar year, folk songs and traditional costumes in Iepurești in 1971 (Георгиев, Г., Г. Михайлова 2018: 291–298).
